Artist: Jules Chéret (31 May 1836 – 23 September 1932) was a French painter and lithographer who became a master of Belle Époque poster art. He has been called the father of the modern poster. Born in Paris to a poor but creative family of artisans, Chéret had a very limited education.
Description: Casino d'Enghien was created in 1896 by Jules Cheret in Art Nouveau (Modern) style. This poster is in "B" condition. Age staining to original fold lines, some minor inpainting in image in blue field, closed tears, all visible in photo. Scarce poster created by the father of lithography over 120 years ago. The paper was fragile and delicate before backing. Hard to find in any condition, and priced accordingly. Usually listed at over $4000 in "A" condition, this is a good opportunity to own an original piece of history and it's sure to appreciate with time.
