Artist: Günther Kieser (1930-) German artist Günther Kieser was born in Kronberg, near Frankfurt. Trained at the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach, Kieser began his career as a free-lance artist in 1949. in 1962, Kieser worked primarily for Lippmann & Rau, producing posters that would become fixtures in the music scene. His posters were displayed in concert halls, bars and on billboards. His treatment of political topics and current issues gave his work an iconic look and feel. Keiser’s Jimi Hendrix Experience poster, 1969, available here, is one of his most popular designs stamped in the memory of a post modern generation.

Description: Original poster by Kieser for Lippmann + Rau promoting the 1968 festival. Horst Lippmann and Fritz Rau left their mark in blues history with the groundbreaking American Folk Blues Festival tours of the ’60s. Occasionally billed as the American Negro Blues Festival, which introduced live blues to a European audience that has formed a major core of support for touring blues artists ever since. Lippmann and Rau formulated the concept to appeal to the already-established jazz audience in Europe, but what transpired had more to do with emerging rock ‘n’ roll musicians who soaked up the musicians of the American legends and gave the world new British variations on the blues via the likes of the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the Animals. Near mint condition. Great piece of original Blues history.
