Description: The 148th Battalion was authorized on December 22nd 1915 and raised in the Montreal area. It sailed to England under the command of Lt. Col A.A.Magee with a strength of 32 officers and 953 other ranks. In England the Battalion was broken up and absorbed into the 20th Reserve Battalion. Amazing and typical Canadian image of a wounded infantryman wondering why reinforcements won't come, visions of a hockey game formed from the smoke of his rifle. Minor closed tears, nice bright yellow colors. J.J. Gibbons Limited, Montreal-Toronto in bottom margin.
