Description: This poster advertises the 1973 edition of the Foire de Paris (Paris Fair), which is a salon-type fair held annually in Paris. The fair has been taking place since 1904 and since 1923 has been held at the exhibition grounds of the Porte de Versailles in Paris. The fair always takes place around the end of April and lasts just over a week. In 1973, there are said to have been 1 300 000 visitors to the exhibitions. These types of fairs trace their origins to colonial exhibitions and world fairs during which an Empire (such as France) could demonstrate to the world their colonial exploits and resources. This poster, though from a fair in 1973, still totes a slogan such as "découvrez les nations étrangères" (come and discover foreign nations).
