Artist: Ferdinand Schultz-Wettel (1872/76-1957) was born in Mulhouse in 1872. He trained mainly at the School of Fine Arts in Berlin from 1890 to 1893, then took private lessons in Paris, where he was notably a pupil of the famous W. Bouguerau Or Tony Robert-Fleury. He was married to an Obernoise and settled in Obernai in 1914. He was expelled in 1941 by the Nazis and with 14 other families of notables, he stayed in Lyon, Limoges and finally Solignac where his name M. Vettel was always quoted and known Nowadays. Back in Obernai, he had to face the loss of all his possessions, his works and his engraving material. During his career, he exhibited regularly in Paris, Munich, Berlin, London and in the galleries of Strasburg. In 1922, he presented the National Society of Fine Arts at the famous procession of Geispolsheim. From 1926 he exhibited regularly at the Salon des artistes francais, of which he became an associate member in 1924.
